MIFOD 2026 Conference

10.2.2026

We invite you to participate in the 12th edition of the MIFOD conference, which will traditionally take place during the EKOTECH trade fair in Kielce. Let's meet on April 8-9, 2026, to discuss the key challenges facing the industry!

This year's edition is organized by the MIFOD Foundation in cooperation with the Marshal of the Świętokrzyskie Province and Targi Kielce, with the active participation of the previous organizer – AK NOVA Sp. z o.o.

Main theme: Technologies and systems that shape the future of the economy

The MIFOD conference is a nationwide event dedicated to modern technologies, systems, and organizational models that are shaping the future of waste management. The program covers key issues including waste collection, container systems, recovery and recycling levels, advanced sorting technologies, composting and fermentation processes, as well as leachate treatment and management of post-treatment fractions.

The central element of MIFOD is to show how technology is becoming the backbone of an effective and future-proof waste management system. From smart containers with user identification, through weighing systems and fill sensors, to operational data analytics, modern tools are bringing a whole new quality to waste management. They enable better stream management, increased recycling rates, elimination of sorting errors, and improved financial efficiency across the entire sector.

MIFOD also emphasizes the importance of biodegradable waste fermentation, which is playing an increasingly important role in the closed material cycle. The fermentation process not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill, but also ensures stable access to biogas—a valuable energy source and an important element of the systemic transition towards a circular economy.

The conference also focuses on the costs of operating waste systems, regulatory challenges, billing models, deposit systems, and EPR. Participants discuss how technologies and smart systems can support cost rationalization, improve data quality, and increase the transparency of the entire system.

An important aspect of MIFOD is also the combination of environmental education with digital tools that enable residents to have a real impact on the quality of selective collection. Technology thus becomes not only an element of management, but also an educational tool that strengthens awareness and social responsibility.

The conference also addresses the role of waste management in infrastructure security, including in crisis situations. The stability of waste collection, control over hazardous fractions, and the resilience of treatment facilities are crucial for the functioning of the state, local governments, and businesses.
